Used Car Spotlight: 2005 Subaru Baja XT manual
It’s a truck! It’s a sports car! It’s a family sedan! It’s a Subaru Baja XT!!
Looking for the utility of a truck, fun of a turbo-charged sports car, and practicality of an all-wheel drive sedan? Of course you are! Right now we have what you’re looking for wrapped up in a quirky little package that you may have never considered. It’s a one owner, locally owned, 2005 Subaru Baja XT Turbo.
What the Heck is a Subaru Baja?
Not many people know; because the Subaru Baja XT was only produced from 2004 to 2006. The Subaru Baja is just like the Subaru Legacy Outback, but in truck form. The two vehicles share the same platform, many mechanical parts, and even sheet metal. But the Subaru Baja grows 6 inches in overall length, and sprouts a 41 inch truck bed. What this particular Subaru Baja doesn’t share with it’s legacy brother, is the engine.
A Rally Bred WRX Powered Truck?!?!
Yes. It’s that awesome. The Subaru Baja Turbo comes equipped with a 2.5 liter turbocharged horizontally opposed 4 cylinder engine. This is essentially the same EJ255 model engine that can be found in the 2006-2013 Subaru Impreza WRX. And that means that the Baja puts out a whopping 210 horse power, pulling the Baja from 0-60 in just 7 seconds. These motors are highly sought after and known to be bullet proof, but this particular engine has done just 95,000 miles. To make the drive-train even sweeter this motor is mated to an excellent 5 speed manual transmission, a very rare configuration.
What Else Can the Subaru Baja Do?
Glad you asked! Aside from making you feel like a rally car driver, the Subaru Baja XT can;
- Return 25 mpg highway and 19 mpg city
- Make you and your passengers feel comfortable in its elegant leather trim
- Comfortably seat 4 adults
- Fit loads of stuff in its 45” x 41” bed
- Fit even more stuff in the back by folding down the rear seats and bed divider
- Haul even more stuff with the included trailer hitch and 2700 lbs tow rating
- Drive you and all that stuff over all sorts of things with 8.4 inches of ground clearance
Still Not Sold on the Subaru Baja XT?
It’s a one owner local trade with less than 100,000 miles on a reliable engine, there’s no rust, the paint looks terrific, and the body is in great shape. This really is a terrific and practical used car. Check out the full photo gallery and details, and schedule a test drive before this very rare Subaru sells.
