Honda introduces the 2015 Honda Civic Special Edition

Honda engineers gave the Civic a significant overhaul for the 2014 model year; because of this the 2015 Honda civic will see few changes from the 2014 model. Instead, Honda is introducing a new model into the Civic lineup for buyers who want more technology without maxing out their budgets. The new Honda Civic SE, or Special Edition, will go on sale this fall 2014 along with the other 2015 Honda Civics.

The 2105 Honda Civic SE Upgrades

Honda has positioned the Civic SE model to fit in-between the base model Civic LX and the mid-range Civic EX. Upgrades from the LX model include

• 15-inch alloy wheels
• Automatic climate control
• 7-inch touchscreen Display Audio system with LaneWatch
• A 6 speaker audio system

These features give the Civic a more upscale and luxurious feeling along with a sporty look.

The Honda Civic SE Cost

The best part of the new Honda Civic SE is that it adds just a $700 premium over the LX model Civic. Honda claims that the SE package adds $1100 worth of equipment onto the Civic; the SE package stands for $400 of savings. The 2015 Honda Civic sedan starts at $18,490 with a manual transmission or $19,290 with a CVT transmission. With the SE package the Civic stays under $20,000 at $19,990. The $1,500 price gap between a base model Civic and the SE model is due to transmission; the SE model is only offered with a CVT transmission. Swapping the 5-speed manual transmission standard on EX models for a CVT is an $800 option.
