The friendly folks in our parts center have no problem doing the Honda key fob replacement for you. They do it all the time. But, if you’re an intrepid do-it-yourselfer like a lot of our Broomfield customers and want to learn how to change a Honda key battery yourself, we’re happy to oblige. Just follow the steps below in our guide on how to change the battery in a Honda key fob:

How to Change a Honda Key Battery

  1. If your fob is held together by a screw, remove the screw with a screwdriver. If it has a button that releases the key, click that button instead.
  2. Pry the key fob open, being careful not to let the contents and external buttons fall out.
  3. Take out the dead battery. Observe which side is positive and which side is negative.
  4. Install the new Honda key battery without touching the terminals. Remember where the positive side and negative side go.
  5. Snap the two halves of the fob back together or screw them back together, depending on which kind of Honda key fob you have.
