Honda Wants to Double Minicar Sales in 5 Years

March 16th, 2011 by

Honda Motor Co. President Takanobu Ito recently said that Honda will double their minicar sales around the world in the next five years. This is a lofty goal, but here at Fisher Honda – the premiere Boulder, Colorado Honda dealer – we believe that they can do it. While minicars are still not a huge hit in the United States, this is changing as gas prices continue to rise. People are finally realizing they don’t need a super large car if they’re just getting around the city. In fact, smaller cars get better gas mileage in the city compared to large cars – and especially SUVs and large trucks.

Because they don’t cost much to purchase or maintain, the engines of 660 cc or less are becoming in popular in countries outside Japan. As for the future, they are concentrating on this market, making the cars more stylish, more roomy on the inside with smaller engines, transmissions, and even better gas mileage. While some are hesitant to go with a hybrid or electric vehicle, they love the dependability of the minicars from Honda. They may only have around a 10% share in the world market currently, but they are working to change that in the years ahead.

Here at Fisher Honda – the premiere Honda dealer in Boulder, Colorado – we think they are going to be successful. We look forward to all the new minicar models that will be coming out in the years ahead. For now, if you want to test drive or just look at any of the new 2011 Honda models, stop in today. Our experienced and friendly sales team can help answer any questions you might have. At Fisher Honda, we are here to help in any way we can.
