There is nothing more exciting here at Fisher Honda in Boulder than announcing that our beloved automaker has had the honor of bringing home the gold! The first-ever “Driving Engagement Award” was presented to the American Honda Motor Company for “Best Social Media Campaign of 2012”, compliments of the Chicago Trade Association (CATA), producer of the Chicago Auto Show, and Word of Mouth Marketing (WOMMA) during the Social Media Preview of the 2013 Chicago Auto Show this week.

Honda was one of three automotive manufacturers chosen by WOMMA to be finalists for the “Driving Engagement Award” and took home the prestigious honor for their submission of a music video that’s linked to their “Honda Loves You Back” campaign. The video features an amateur band named Monsters Calling Home who had recorded a music video from the inside of their own Honda. As a surprise, Honda took the liberty of booking the band as a musical guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and used every social media presence available to share their story.

The other two contenders for the award were Nissan with its “2013 Nissan Pathfinder Presents: An Improv-tastic Road Trip” and Dodge’s “Inspired by You” campaign for the 2013 Dodge Dart. Although there can be only one winner, the efforts on behalf of the auto industry to use the wide array of social media connections is indeed impressive and a sure sign that technology will continue to strengthen consumer/company relationships.
