The All-New Honda CR-Z is Coming to Westminster and the Surrounding Areas

A sporty hybrid might seem kind of like an oxymoron to some drivers, but Honda is about to change all that. At first glance, the Honda CR-Z here at Westminster-area Fisher Honda might have given off the same impression. The concept of driving a powerful sports car with a fast 0-60 time and tight handling doesn’t exactly mix with many drivers’ preconceived notions of economic hybrid vehicles, but the new CR-Z may just change your mind. This two-seat wonder with front-wheel drive, a sport-modeled suspension, widened track, and low-sitting base gives not only the appearance, but also the performance of any mid-level sports car on the market today.

The Honda CR-Z Holds its Own Under the Hood

When you pop the hood on the Honda CR-Z, you are sure to be far from disappointed. You will find Honda’s familiar Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) hybrid system. However, for the additional power promised in the CR-Z, a slightly larger gasoline engine than those typically found in other Honda hybrids like the Insight has been used. The larger, 1.5L engine produces 112 hp with 107 lb-ft of torque, while the electric motor is the same as in the Insight, ensuring great hybrid gas mileage. The electric motor generates an additional 14 horsepower and 58 pound-feet of torque.

In addition to the upgraded engine, the Honda CR-Z is also offering a six-speed manual transmission to go along with its hybrid-typical continuously variable transmission. The six-speed manual transmission truly gives the CR-Z a sports car feel, yet you still reap the hybrid benefits with 31 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway.

The Honda CR-Z is available to Westminster drivers in three trim packages: the base model, the EX, and the EX with navigation. The base model comes standard with 16-inch alloy wheels, hill start assistance, automatic headlights, full power accessories, cruise control, six-speaker CD audio system, and many other general amenities. The EX adds xenon headlights, Bluetooth capability, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a seven-speaker premium audio system.
