According to the Washington Post, a 53-year-old man from Maine by the name of Joe LoCicero on October 20 passed the one million mile mark on the odometer of his 1990 Honda Accord. He was awarded with a parade and a new 2012 Honda Accord in the city of Saco, Maine.

The new 2012 Honda Accord, available at Fisher Honda in Boulder, boasts a variety of great features, including cruise control, 16-inch alloy wheels, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, anti-lock brakes, and airbags. With a stellar fuel economy rating of 23 mpg city/34 mpg highway, the new Accord won’t make trips to the gas station painful either.

The Honda Accord Will Endure Many Miles

Mr. LoCicero bought his 1990 Honda accord in 1996 with 74,000 miles on it. As a former mechanic, LoCicero did most of the maintenance work himself. He claims the secret to the car’s longevity is adhering to maintenance schedules, using quality parts, and driving safely. The transmission and the engine, LoCicero claims, are original.

In a video interview posted on the Huffington Post, Million Mile Joe stated his job as a mechanic took him from dealership to dealership, where he averaged over 60,000 miles per year in his 1990 Honda Accord. By the time he reached 300,000 miles, he began keeping detailed records and taking photos of his odometer.

Joe’s accomplishment surprised even the most avid Honda sales representatives, only further testifying to the Honda’s Accord’s superior quality performance.
