We Saw Some 2018 Honda CR-V Spy Shots — What Can You Expect?

August 10th, 2016 by

2016 cr-vSomeone has snapped some 2018 Honda CR-V spy shots, so we can now let Boulder and Denver drivers in on what they can expect. The Honda CR-V remains an intensely popular crossover, but increasing competition, alongside Honda’s continued drive to improve their vehicles, has meant that a host of changes are likely coming to the 2018 model.

New Platform

This will be the fifth generation of the CR-V crossover, and spy shots indicate that it will likely be sporting a whole new platform. It could be the same platform that currently underpins the Civic, so expect the CR-V’s current 103.1-inch wheelbase to grow to around 106.3-inches.

The overall design appears to have moved forward to deliver an appearance that is both sportier and more upscale. The bold front grille runs along an extended hood to ensure a more commanding stance, with signature vertical taillights clearly visible.

Added Versatility

The 2016 Honda CR-V already offers Boulder and Denver drivers space to seat five comfortably, plus up to 70.9 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded down.

The 2018 CR-V is likely to provide you with an interior that is even more spacious and practical. We’ve received hints that the added room will be used to house an optional third-row seat, which would make the CR-V a great choice for drivers who need the space of the larger Pilot but aren’t sure about upsizing.

Performance and Efficiency

Honda has developed a reputation for exceptional efficiency, so you can bet that they will be pulling out all the stops to make sure the 2018 CR-V comes out at the head of the pack.

You can expect superior driving dynamics whatever the engine, but the most likely candidate for the new engine is a 174-hp 1.5L turbo four-cylinder. A Continuously Variable Automatic (CVT) will likely be the sole transmission option.
