The all-new 2015 CR-V received a “good” rating in all five crash tests, allowing it to be called a Top Safety Pick. The CR-V has an available front-crash prevention system, and because the system earned a superior rating, the CR-V was given the Top Safety Pick+ designation.
“Honda’s vision to one day eliminate traffic-related collisions, injuries, and fatalities is at the heart of our commitment to safety,” Art St. Cyr, vice president of auto operations at American Honda, said. “Our continued innovation in active safety and assistive technologies with the application of Honda Sensing brings Honda, our customers, and everyone else on the road one step closer to this goal.”

The 2015 Honda CR-V touring trim received the “superior” rating in front-crash prevention for its forward collision warning, low-speed autobrake, and high-speed autobrake, according to the IIHS. In the 12 mph test the CR-V avoided collision and in the 25 mph test, the impact speed was reduced by 21 mph. 2015 is the first year the CR-V has received a “good” rating across the board with previous years receiving the “marginal” rating in the front small overlap crash test or the “marginal” rating in roof strength.
2015 Honda CR-V Safety Features
The 2015 Honda CR-V safety features include vehicle stability assist, brake assist, and a multi-angle rearview camera for active safety features. Passive safety features include Advanced Compatibility Engineering Body Structure, SmartVent front side airbags, 3-point seat belts at all seating positions, and side curtain airbags with rollover sensor.
Another Honda CR-V safety feature in the touring trim is Honda Sensing. This suite of driver-assistive technologies includes:
- Collision Mitigation Braking System In the event of a collision, the braking system can sense that an unavoidable collision is about to happen and brake pressure will be applied automatically.
- Lane Departure Warning The CR-V detects the lane the vehicle is traveling in. If the vehicle begins to drift into another lane without an indicator on, a warning will sound to alert the driver.
- Adaptive Cruise Control With this feature a constant following distance is maintained without the driver having to manually change their speed.
- Lane Keeping Assist System If the driver begins to leave their lane without their indicator on, the steering wheel will automatically adjust to correct the lane departure.
- Honda LaneWatch Passenger-side blind spots are made visible with this feature. When indicating a lane change, the view in the lane the driver wishes to merge into will appear on the display audio screen.
