Exciting Changes Are in Store for the 2013 Honda Accord

For 2013, Honda intends to introduce a hybrid option to its popular sedan lineup. The 2013 Honda Accord will offer a plug-in option. Honda’s system will combine a lean four-cylinder with a 210-kilowatt electric motor. This will give the Accord a 10- to 15-mile range using electricity alone. Other drive modes will use a continuously variable transmission to blend gas and electric power for maximum fuel efficiency.

The latest Accord will be available in both two- and four-door body styles as well as with several engine options. Drivers will have a choice between a 2.4L four-cylinder engine paired with a CVT transmission that will be fitted with an eco driving mode and a 3.5L V6 with a choice of either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.

Outwardly, the Accord will see only a few changes to its overall body style. The 2013 version will be slightly smaller, but Honda promises that interior space will be nearly identical to the current version. Honda has also announced that the latest Accord will have improved handling. New safety features include a lane departure system and blind spot monitors. For 2013, the Accord also gets Bluetooth and audio streaming capability.
