When the owners of this Honda reported their car stolen to the Greenwood Village Police Department, the vehicle information was entered into the nationwide law enforcement stolen vehicle computer system. This routine action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle. Neither the owners nor law enforcement had to do anything else to cause the activation of the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Network because LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
An hour later officers from with the Denver Police Department received the silent homing signals from the stolen vehicle with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol cars. The officers then queried the LoJack “Reply Code” appearing on the PTC display screens with the police stolen vehicle computer system and received positive confirmation that the signals were coming from a vehicle reported stolen by the owner as well as the full description of the vehicle.
Officers are then given directional and signal strength information by the PTC and were able to track the stolen vehicle to the area of 7000 block of Leetsdale Drive where the stolen Honda had been abandoned by the crooks.
This Honda Accord had been installed with LoJack in Massachusetts over 12 years ago at the original owner’s request.
